Great week of posts, fellas. Strong post from Jessie (nice attempt to take the credit, BThom) on the blog. I always thought (and hoped) that my first female post would come from a lesbian, but hey - I’ll take whatever I can get. I apologize for the delay in posting, it won’t happen again. I’m glad I waited for Sunday’s game though, otherwise I would’ve had to write a really positive post about how we won 4 out of 5 games and shut down the best offense in the majors. My waiting led to the debacle that was Sunday’s game. It’s pretty frustrating to waste good starts in the AL (especially when our bullpen is such a strength).
Any who, I’m not going to bore you with what you already know. We are all smarter than our manager, its not a secret. But I do have something I think you guys might like. I was doing some research on the Internet last night trying to find out more about Hillman’s past. I stumbled across Hillman’s Facebook page and saw that he recently posted a new “25 Things about Me”. Take a read, I think you’ll have a greater understanding about what makes this man tick.
25 Things about Me! by Trey Hillman
1. When I was 6 I had a really bad reaction to a PB&J sandwich my mom made me. I went to the doctor and found out I was allergic to peanuts. Tests further revealed that I am allergic to using my brain after the 7th inning of a baseball game as well. My doctor and Royals fans are eagerly awaiting the cure.
2. Before I got my first managerial job, I was asked to take a Wonderlic test. First off, that test is tough with a capital “t”! I scored a 4. Yes, it sounds low, but Vince Young scored a 6 and he got accepted to the University of Texas, so I feel pretty good about it.
3. I hate numbers. Eww, gross! The other day Bob McClure was in my office and he was talking about the difference between Juan Cruz and Kyle Farnsworth. He was comparing their stats over the last 8 years and he was talking about ERA, HR/9, WHIP, BS, and bla, bla, bla. I quit listening half way through because I was so BORED. I cut him off quickly and said, “Jeez, Bob - I have more important things to do then look at numbers. Uh, have you ever heard of praying? “ What a dummy!
4. I think Carlos Mencia is one funny dude.
5. I’ve been on America’s Funniest Home Videos 12 times in my life (8 times getting hit in the groin with a wiffle ball). I made it to the finals 3 times.
6. Everyone keeps talking about how good Cruz and Soria are and bla bla bla. Yeah, but you know what? Farnsy is my friend, gosh darnit. I believe in him. He goes to my church group on Sundays. I mean, that counts for something doesn’t it? You bet your fanny it does. When my son had the flu on Opening Day, Farnsy said he was saying prayers for him. That says something about a man, ya know? Sure, he was so busy praying he forgot to read his scouting report on Jim Thome, but hey - his heart was in the right place.
7. My two best friends in the whole wide world are Farnsy and Adam P.
8. Most people don’t know that I have an acting background. In high school, I was cast for the role of Lennie in our production of Of Mice and Men. I didn’t even have to audition!
9. This one time, in practice, Tony Pena Jr. made this SWEEEEEET diving play at shortstop. Yeah, he didn’t make the out on the play, but man, it was so cool looking! I was like, “Yo Tony! You the man, brother. The Lord has certainly blessed you with amazing talent.” And then Tony was like, “Thanks, Skip.” And I was like, “Your welcome, man” You should’ve seen the smile on his face when he came into the dugout - seriously, no joke- he gives the best High-Five ever!!! Here is a secret that has to stay on Facebook, ok guys? Here it is: I love it when he calls me “Skip”. I think that sounds so cool. I wish more guys would call me that. Every now and then I put TPJ in the games in hopes that the other guys will take a page out of his book and call me “Skip”. Man that would be kick-butt if they all did.
10. Have you ever seen Batman & Robin? That movie is pretty boss, man. People are all like “Christian Bale is the best Batman“ Uhh, hello? George Clooney anyone? I mean come on, anyone who thinks Bale is better than Clooney is a scallywag. The other day Bloomy was over at my house and we were playing this game where we think of a topic and then we both write down the first thing that comes to mind. We like to see how many times we write down the same thing. Well, the question was “Best movie sidekick”. I knew as soon as I saw his face light up that we were thinking the same thing. We exchanged the papers and sure enough, they both read “CHRIS O’DONNELL!!!”. I mean seriously, he was crazy tough in Batman and Robin. Mr. Freeze was all scared of him. Sweet.
11. In 2005, I took a year off from managing in Japan to follow Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd around the country. Those dudes speak to me. If you haven’t caught those bands live, do yourself a favor, and go see them NOW!
12. I hate Sabermetrics. Remember, I don’t trust people who like numbers. I think they are witches.
13. I miss my friend Ross. Baseball is a tough business. You can lose your besties in the blink of an eye. Thank God Farnsy and Bloomy are here - they are my rocks, man. I’m not going to lie, it got pretty dusty in the Royals clubhouse when Dayton traded Gloady to the Marlins. Worst day of my career.
14. Back in 1992, I was contacted by Robert Zemeckis in regards to a new film he was working on. He said he wanted to have Tom Hanks follow me for a few weeks to get a appreciation for the character he was about to undertake. Tom Hanks can thank me as the inspiration for his work in Forrest Gump.
15. Sometimes, if Farnsy and I have a disagreement, I’ll get on Facebook and change our relationship status to “It’s complicated”. I just do it to mess with him. It drives him nuts!
16. I don’t like Alberto Callaspo. First of all, he is hitting over .300 right now so that makes it tough to get my Bloomy in the lineup. Secondly, he didn’t come to my barbeque this off-season and he even RSVP’d +1.
17. This one time in Spring Training, Farnsy struck out the side! We were playing the Rangers A Ball team and he was facing the 6-7-8 hitters. Man, did those 19 year olds look over matched. Farnsy threw a ball 94! I was in the dugout yelling, “Make it go faster Farnsy, faster!” You know what happened next? He hit 95 MPH!!! I was like, “Whoa!!!”. I remember sitting there just thinking how dominant Farnsy would be once the season started. He already has 4 strikeouts in 3.1 IP this year, so he’s off to a Heckuva year.
18. Last movie tidbit: My last effort to make it in Hollywood was derailed when Sean Penn stole the role of I Am Sam from me in the final auditions. I really thought I was going to get it too, I was totally thought that script was written for me.
19. So the other day I was at the stadium on an off-day and I rolled up to the clubhouse in my Mazda Miata (Yeah, that’s right I’ve got a sports car!). I was blaring some DC Talk (thanks for tip, Sweeney) on my speakers and was wearing my favorite denim jacket. I heard Teahen and Gordon and some of the other young dudes laughing as I walked up. I asked them what was so funny and they just said it was some joke I just missed. I can’t tell you how many times I walk up and just miss a joke. Talk about bad timing.
20. My favorite TV show? Uhh, easy. BIG BANG THEORY. Those guys have me rolling every week. CBS is the best channel, they have awesome programming.
21. Did you know that hitters hit .190 off of Juan Cruz last year? Or did you know that hitters hit .299 off of Farnsworth last year? McClure told me that the other day. My response to him: Do you know that I go with my gut 100% of the time? How is that for percentages? Needless to say he was stumped, couldn’t even muster a response.
22. Sometimes if Bloomy has a good game, I’ll take him to his favorite restaurant for dinner. We’ll go down to Long John Silver’s and splurge on some fish (I’m a vegetarian you see). Sometimes if we get hopped up on a couple soda’s, we’ll try to throw hush puppies into each other’s mouths from across the table. I hate to say it, but he is better at it than me. I wish Alberto would quit hitting so we could have more LJS time together.
23. If I could meet one person in the world in would probably be the Pope. Or maybe Dane Cook - that dude is so funny. LOL. He was great in those “There is only one October” commercials.
24. Umm... So how sweet does "Fighting" look? Farnsy, Bloomy, and I already have our advance screening tickets. I really hope the game goes quick on Thursday night so we can get to our midnight viewing. I think I have a few tricks up my sleeve to keep the game from going into extras, it worked on Sunday...
25. So, I need to get something off my chest. Ross and I had a fight after his trade. He thought I should have told Dayton that I would quit if the trade went through. I thought about doing it, but I couldn’t just leave Bloomy and Farnsy. I haven’t spoken to Ross since the trade, but sometimes after a tough loss my phone will ring. When I answer, there is no voice on the other end. Heavy breathing and some audible tears, but no words. I don’t need to hear the voice. I know its Ross. One day, I know he’ll have the courage to speak up, and I’ll have the courage to forgive him. I just wish he knew that I’m sorry. I guess I just miss my friend.

The Royals just called up Banny to start on Tuesday...which is better than HoRam I guess. Why didn't they call up Hoch instead?
Nice Diet Pepsi... Nice
I like how you threw Bloomquist under the bus. Bloomquist nof faggy nick name "Bloomy" sucks ass and Trey needs to figure his shit out
Matt "Can a Day" Mavec
Hochevar won't be back up until May 4th at the earliest due to his service time clock. I originally said May 12, but I was incorrect - it is May 4th. If we keep him in AAA until May 4th, then he is required to be a Royal through 2014 as opposed to 2013.
I think he'll be called up then depending on how Banny and Ponson or doing. Banny can be sent down again no problem, so I don't think he is up here for good. If Banny is so-so and Ponson continues to pitch well, KC could swap Hochevar for Banny and let Banny figure out how to pitch again down in the minors. All the while, keeping Ponson on a short leash.
Very anxious to see Bannister start tomorrow.
Well this "POPP" (Pal O'da Ponson Pals) will be looking forward to a back to back QS from Sir Sid tonight. Let's get back on the horse Sir!
I like the Banny call up. Paul, that is what I would assume about Hochevar as well.
Like I've said before, I just hope Hillman learns from these April mistakes and he can make the proper moves as the season progresses. I'm not ready to throw him under the bus yet, but he is on a short lease in my book.
My roommate was asking my feelings on Farnsworth and I'm honestly not mad at Kyle. He isn't paying himself $9m over two years or putting him in to protect leads or hold tie ball games. If he is on, he can be effective but he hasn't been so don't put him in situations where he has to be.
But let's keep our eyes on the prize. Big divisional series starting tonight. Sir Sidney, Banny and Gil on the hump. I want two out of three.
Hey Adam P,
Maybe you should start your own blog for blind homers. I think my Bible Study group (old testament emphasis!) would really love that. They've been looking for a Royals blogger who sees things the way they do.
Seriously though, I don't take kindly to that "supposedly" comment. You don't have to defend the indefensible to be a good fan. The Bullpen Boys were season ticket holders in Buddy Bell's last year, and that was coming off 3 straight 100 loss seasons. We hated his guts, but we were still going to those games in September (and eating terrible chili cheese fries). There are no "supposed" fans here.
If "getting a clue" means defending Bible-thumping idiots who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag, then I guess I'm just gonna have to be content to remain without a clue. I can't imagine the mind-numbing sedatives I'd have to take to get one.
I am enjoying this banter. Usually I am the one to start the fire. This is nice watching from the outside, but I think I just may jump in.
Adam, how can you defend a man that has made moves (and not made moves) that everyone in the Royals fan base (including you - I hope to God) KNEW was the wrong decision as it happened? We all know what I am talking about here (the farnsworth moves, and the not putting in Soria in the 8th with two outs in a one run game). WOW, congratulations Hillman, you left the most dominant pitcher in MLB at the time (Grienke) in the game to finish off a shutout...BRAVO...that took some real guts. You finally used Juan Cruz (sick numbers last year) as the set up man....BRAVO again. These are seriously the reasons to praise the man and call him a good manager. Give me a break.
Any idiot, including the idiots that know nothing about baseball on this blog, could have made all those moves in our sleep.
This probably made no sense.
Great win tonight. Dejesus almost made me break the TV, thank god he caught that ball.
Grapes
Great win last night, and I really hope that with some confidence Banny can rediscover what he had in 2007. It sounds like he was “pitching for contact” and doing so quite effectively. Only 1 K, and still managed 6 S.O. innings.
As for this other banter going on about Hillman, loyalty, and the such… I hate to pile on Pummel, but I think he’s wrong here for a couple of reasons. We cannot give Hillman the same leniency as we would a rookie manager. He’s managed professional baseball long enough that he shouldn’t be making the mistakes he’s recently made. Ichiro came over from Japan and won the MVP in his first year…you know why? B/c the game is played the EXACT same in Japan as it is in the United States. If you can hit any pitch in Japan you can hit any pitch in the States, and the same is true of managing. The fact that Hillman has won in Japan is all the more reason he shouldn’t be making the mistakes he’s made on this level. These are rookie mistakes for a guy that is NOT a rookie, & I’m sure most of you got just as furious w/ Herm when he couldn’t manage the clock @ the end of the half or the game.
I also contend that you do NOT have to blindly defend the manager of your ballclub to be a fan of that team. You know who else was a proven winner? Carl Peterson. Are you angry that Chiefs fans & the media “ran” him out of town too? As a passionate & INFORMED fan, everyone has the right to voice their opinions about the individuals that lead their franchise. History has taught us, if we aren’t willing to question the decisions of those in charge, we will end up in Kansas City’s version of Nazi-Germany...watching helplessly as all of our sports franchises are destroyed.
As discussed earlier in this blog, we as a fan-base need to demand more and ditch this losing culture that has been associated w/ our franchise. I still think Hillman can get the job done, and there is something to be said for the positive clubhouse culture he contributes to. Just quit making stupid lapses in judgment and we will be fine.
Go get ‘em today Gil.
Here Here!...too long in KC have we, the fans, sat on our hands and watched mediocre team after mediocre team parade around. Yeah, there was a winning season sprinkled in every few years but never a "winning" environment. I love the fact that there are 3 "go-to" sites I visit every day (Rany, BallStar, and BullpenBOYZ) that openly question decisions. It makes KC feel (to me) like a sports town where everyone lives and dies with every victory or defeat. Sometimes it's all I can do to get out of bed after a tough loss. Hey, everyone makes fun of Philly fans for being obnoxious pricks but they've got a ring, right?
Adam – I’m sorry bud, I was gonna sit this one out and let the board take you to task for your comments, but I’m gonna have to jump in here. You said that Hillman made ONE mistake with Farnsworth – I disagree. He made the same mistake THREE times, which any math major can tell you is: THREE mistakes. If you cheat on your wife 10 times, I don’t think you can use this argument, “But Babe, it was ONE mistake!”, but I’d like to hear how that works out for someone if they try it someday.
You like to give Hillman credit for “the wins”, but I don’t think it works that way. We aren’t crediting him for “the losses” – just the 3 he used Farnsworth in an awful situation with MUCH BETTER alternatives in the pen. I won’t credit the HoRam vs. Yankees loss where Bloomquist cost us 3 runs in RF, I’ll put that on Dayton for making us start HoRam. You said Hillman subbing TPJ is a win “for Hillman” – I disagree. Aviles is not some retard out there kicking the ball around (Don’t tell Hillman, but Aviles was a better defender by the numbers last year – I will admit that defensive numbers are more subjective, but I’m just reporting facts here). So Pena made a couple nice plays? Great, Aviles would have made the same plays (I don’t care what Ryan LeFebrve says on the radio). That is not a win for Hillman. I gave Hillman credit for a game when he started Brayan Pena on that Sunday against the Yankees. So Hillman is 1-3 in my book.
You talk about how Hillman has us in first place. Again, I disagree. Greinke, Meche, Davies, and Soria have us in first place. Farnsworth and Hillman have us TIED for 1st place as opposed to having a 3 game lead.
I don’t think you can speak for the frame of mind in the clubhouse as well. Reports last year was that he had ZERO control of the clubhouse and he was the team JOKE. That is not good Adam. Maybe that has changed, I sure hope it has. But I’d think that Soria, Meche, Davies, Buck, and others are pretty unhappy with their Coach right now. (I’ll let you guess why).
I’m not content with first place just because “we’re the Royals”. I won’t accept mediocrity in any form. 8-6 right now is unacceptable to me. Could it be worse? Sure (We’re the Royals, right!?). SHOULD it be better? Absolutely. I won’t make excuses for a coach who is mediocre by his own stubbornness and inability to learn. Not anymore. I did it for Muser, Pena, and Bell. I’m done though.
Lastly I say this with all due respect and not picking a fight: the college ball and the knowing Gardenhire’s son isn’t doing it for me, man. I’m giving you baseball facts, all I can ask is that you do the same. Playing ability does not equal “Superior knowledge of the game”. I would bet you I could manage a game better than Jose Canseco, Carl Everett, Elijah Dukes, etc. They can PLAY the game 1 million times better than me, but it doesn’t mean their opinion automatically is superior to mine. Just my two cents...
Go Royals – lets hope our bullpen can hold on this Meche lead. Juan Cruz please.
Well, if atmosphere is so important, why not just TRY to bring in, arguably, the most feared closer in the game with runners at the corners and 1 out in the eighth. Why are we so afraid of throwing Soria out there to get more than 3 outs? I understand that we have to use our entire bullpen and I like Mahay but not as much as I like Soria with runners on. I'm just asking them to try it once. Oh yeah, conventional wisdom says this...I must follow conventional wisdom. Thought process...over.
Adam P - I am speechless right now.
My tongue is bleeding I'm biting it so hard. That fact that you are serious (and I know you are) is mind-boggling.
I think you are missing the point, Adam. This is jeff kratofil by the way, since you asked. The "mistakes" Hillman made were terrible, idiotic, stupid, ridiculous decisions that everyone knew were wrong.
Are you sitting here and telling me you would have put farnsworth in the third time? if you say yes i may throw up. Hillman is a guy that knows way more about baseball than you do, right? I guess i just can't get over the fact that you are refusing to except the fact that the decisions Hillman has made have cost us games. I understand he did some good things, but come on.
Alright, I think there are more pressing issues to discuss than continuously bashing FarnsMan.
The frustrating part is that he is mis-managing the part of the game that any of us could manage. Like the analogy w/ Herm and the clock...they get the hard part right and screw up the easy stuff.
On a sad note, goodbye Tony G. It was a great run, and sorry you couldn't finish your career w/ the Chiefs...or a playoff win.
-Mitch Kelly
Wow, I walked into a firestorm on this one.
I'll see if I can get through this coherently.
I'm not a fan of Farnsworth and I think he has been misused a couple of times this season, but I'm not going to completely throw Hillman under the bus for it. Adam is right that McClure has a lot of say in this and it started when Dayton Moore signed him, but Hillman wears the Manager pants so the decision to use Farnsworth is on him. Assistant coaches aren't in the paper after a loss, that is just the way it is.
I get some of the other points Adam is making (although I disagree with plenty of them as well). I think you do credit a manager with making the right call in situations and you can also question him. Notice that no one questioned his decision to put Juan Cruz in two nights ago when he gave up the 2-run bomb in the 8th. This is because it was the correct call but it just didn't work out.
I think you do gain an unquantifiable amount of knowledge sitting in a clubhouse/locker room that proves invaluable throughout a season, but I also wholeheartedly believe that it has to be supplemented by a rational, percentage-backed approach. So, yes Adam, Trey Hillman (and apparently you too) know more about the intricacies of this game than many people do, but I will not exchange that for complete disregard of the wealth of information that numerical analysis provides.
We didn't lose today because Hillman didn't bring in Soria. We lost today because the Royals defense is going to be a liability this year and today was a game where it hurt them.
My opinion (or desperate hope) is that Hillman is getting a feel for what this team can do in a non-Spring Training environment (ex: We don't hit the cover off the ball and Farnsworth isn't as effective) and that is fine with me as long as he is learning.
Today Hillman left Meche in for 110+ pitches because Meche was pissed he got pulled on Opening Day when he felt he had more. This is an example of knowing his players and learning from past experience this season. The Royals lost today, but not because of a managerial decision (in my opinion) and I can live with that.
The physical mistakes can be fixed. Mental mistakes are the issue and they cannot happen at the top.
~Matthew James Wormington
My girlfriend played NAIA volleyball, I'm pretty sure that counts for something. Hillman certainly made some bonehead mistakes, but I do agree that the first couple of opportunities could have come from upstairs. We are paying the guy $4 million bucks a year, they have to see if he is worth a damn. I think it is pretty clear now that he is not. Overall I am pretty excited with our play thus far.
you misspelled my last name
My issue with today's loss wasn't bringing in mahay to face sizemore, that was the right move for the situation. Nor was it with Hillman running meche out there for the 8th even though he had already topped 100 pitches through 7. My problem was leaving meche out there after giving up the leadoff double. give the ball to cruz. obviously trey isn't going to let soria go out there for more than 3 outs, so I won't go there.
that said, it's a 3-3 road trip, and I'll take that for now. starting pitching looks good, and will only get better when hoch is brought up in May.
good work Pummill, every message board needs a poster that thinks (and says) he's smarter than everybody else, so everyone can hate him. Keep it up.
And...take Meche out? On opening day everybody was saying...LEAVE MECHE IN.. etc. etc. Wow, the guy doesn't have a computer that tells him exactly what to do. He's not an F'ing wizard man...he's human. He's a baseball manager. BThom...hate? That's a strong word man. And, I'm sure you know A LOT more then me in whatever you studied or did in college as well. Start a post in your profession or college sport and I'm sure I'll be on the outside looking in...Boom Roasted.
i'm just busting your balls Pummill.
on opening day, meche had thrown 91 pitches through 7. he should have been run out for the eighth on a short leash. I had no problem with him going out for the eighth yesterday, but after the leadoff double, you're saying you would have stayed with Gil? come on, adam, that's crazy talk.
cheers to greinke laying a beatdown on the tigres tonight at the K!
The argument that Soria needs to be playing more than once every eight games is one we could explore. I think the only way to do that is to erase the crazy notion of the closer just getting you 3 outs. I think this number can be expanded within reason. For instance, yesterday's game. I don't think Hillman made a bad call bringing in Mahay but can't we just explore this option? Today's Ball Star post pretty much sums up my argument in a much more engrossing way.
Dayton should be called out for signing Fartsworth just as Trey should be for putting him in key situations. There is a reason Joe Torre devoted an entire chapter in his book to how this guy can't handle pressure (from our boy boomboom)....(where you at boomer?).
I feel like Dayton adjusted and went on to sign Cruz as a "makeup mario" type move. Its time for Trey to do the same and never let him take another loss this season.
Our bullpen has the makeup to be the best in the AL (central). Trey needs to lay off the good book and start actually looking at numbers, figuring out if he really has a lefty specialist, and not be afraid to get Soria over 60 innings this year.
I really hope Trey isn't a "baseball guy" like Herm is a "football guy"....those are the lamest type of "compliments" to give a coach. Heck, Buddy Bell was a "baseball guy".
mr. mysti
Well Adam, you are right man. I think everyone needs to give Hillman credit for this win tonight. This game is cleary a win for Hillman. He had the balls to start the best young pitcher in the AL against a division rival. Seriously, that takes GUTS. Not every manager in the league would start Greinke tonight. I'm so glad we have a GUTSY manager who manages with his GUTS and not numbers. Sweet win by Hillman, all is forgivin because we WON today. I can't say it enough... GUTS, GUTS, GUTS.
Go Hillman! Yay!
Dear Captain Awesome Baseball Guy (from here on out I will be referring to Adam P as captain awesome baseball guy, or CABG for short),
You're a trip, man. Never in my life have I heard someone so proud to sound like such a tool. Your name is Adam Pummil, huh? Nope, never heard of you. Surprising given your status as a DIVISION 1 BASEBALL PLAYER (what kind of necklace did you wear?). I wish I did know you though, because I'd absolutely love to discuss some other issues with you. Any issues, really. I bet you've got some pretty hilarious world views. That isn't a compliment.
Just so you know, this is Paul's blog, not yours. We come here to read what he has to say, not what you have to say. He's our expert, you're just some guy who thinks you're our expert.
While on the topic of your expertise, allow me touch on something real quick: you don't earn people's respect by telling them they have to respect you. You know a lot about baseball? Fine, vague as that statement is, I'm willing to take it at face value. But if you want people to trust and respect your opinions, the way to make that happen is to, you know, have good opinions. Not post antiquated "baseball guy" nonsense and then tell us you're right and you know more than all of us. That's the way to make people hate you. And believe me, Thomas was right, people on this blog hate you (I've got the text messages to prove it). How could we not? You've been behaving like an insufferable prick with no grasp on reality. Boom....roasted (I just got stonay).
By all means, respond to this. I'm looking forward to it. Taking morons down a peg is literally (figuratively) what I do for a living, so any back and forth with you would be right up my alley. That stunt you tried to pull where you spout a bunch of bullshit and then say "all right, its over, lets move on" is totally bush league, by the way. I thought that tactic was lame when I was in fifth grade.
And just who do you think you are trying to disrespect Rany? Why would you go there? That guy is the top Royals expert out there. A team put together and managed by him would put an absolute clown suit on a team put together and managed by you and your boy (dad) Trey "Buddy Bell" Hillman. Although I'm guessing your team would be really good at grinding, playing the game right, and doing things that don't show up on the stat sheet.
sincerely,
non-baseball guy (haven't played since 8th grade. What a loser!)
PS Rod Gardenhire's son has got to be the lamest name-drop of all time. I seriously can't believe you did that. I mean I gave Al Nipper's son a hand-job in the bathroom of a Dairy Queen and you don't hear me braggin'.
PPS not that my opinion matters that much, but I really like reading the rest of you guys' comments. Thomas, Mitch, Grapes, Matthew, The Mask, Sweetums, everyone has useful insight as far as I'm concerned. And I don't get to watch that many games given my location, so you guys' input is invaluable to me. I actually like reading CABG's comments too, but for entirely different reasons.
PPPS Maybe I'm being too hard on CABG here, but I'm sick of this guy coming into our house and disrespecting our opinions. I'm sure he does have some useful baseball knowledge, but a little discretion would go a long way.
CABG-
don't get all mushy on us. just cause you got called out doesn't mean you can't stick around here. sure, no one agrees w/ you but you don't have to get all sad and leave on us.
Adam. I still love you. please stay, we need the input of a CABG. Difference of opinion is what makes message boards what they are.
wish i could have seen the game last night. i caught sportscenter late last night, hoping to see some highlights. not much to speak, to no one's surprise. it's yanks-sox weekend, so if you watch espn, you wouldnt know that they were playing any other baseball games this weekend.
for anyone that has an iphone or ipod touch and doesn't live in KC, do yourself a favor and get the MLB at bat '09 app. you get live box scores, pitch locations and speed, and live audio. it really helps to me hear the soothing sound of denny's voice when i can't see the games. it's $10 for the whole season. I just can't bring myself to drop 2 hundo on the extra innings package.
well it sure didn't take long for gardenhire's boy to come back to the bpb
Just got back from the boringest game since opening day. I was pumped to go out tonight, but that plan may be changed to laying on the couch. I sat there for almost 3 hours and saw 4 hits equating to 8 seconds of joy. Oh well, we still share the lead in the central.
