Well I certainly thought there would be more clamoring from the Ponson Pals this week after Dumbo’s awful two starts. I like Hochevar and am referring to him as Dumbo because of his ridiculous ears. I also sympathize with Luke on this because Dumbo was my nickname during grade school up until about 8th grade when he head grew and decided to catch up with my ears. That was an exciting year for me. Any who, in his first two starts of the year, Luke Hochevar pitched like Rick Vaughn in Major League 2 when he went all corporate and ditched leather for Gucci. His sinker has not been sinking and his control has been garbage. Very frustrating for a guy who had given up only 4 ER and 10 BB’s in 40 IP in AAA this year. He definitely deserved his call up, but now he needs to get things back on track to keep his job. There are rumblings that if he continues to suck, he may get relegated to the pen and Sir Sidney will slide back into the rotation. Whatever happens, I just want him to stay in big leagues. He (like I said with Butler when he was struggling) has proven to be very capable in AAA. I’d like him to get it figured out up in KC. He hasn’t dominated AAA the same way Butler did, but he has been solid down there. Don’t forget Luke was already 22 when he started in the Royals farm system. I think he’ll at least get a couple more starts to be evaluated, and I think he needs to relax out there. Overthrowing your sinker flattens it out and removes all effectiveness. I think Luke’s pressing is limiting the sharpness in his pitches. His next start will be against the Cardinals on Saturday - which is actually ok because they are awfully dinged up. Though that 37 year old 1B of theirs is still playing decent ball…
Kyle Davies had two Quality Starts last week, which is very encouraging. He has now given up 3 ER or less in 6 of his 8 starts. That is much better than it seems because he hasn’t been as dominant as Davies v.9/08, but he has been above average. I hope he stays aggressive and goes after guys. Take a page out of that other starter of ours that throws inside.
Big start for Gil Meche this week, I’m real anxious to see how that back holds up. After complaining of back stiffness a few starts back, he just recently complained of “being sore” in his bad Baltimore start this weekend. Hey Nick Swartz and Frank Kyte - how about you do your friggin job and get this guy figured out. Gil only had one strike out in his last start which tells me he isn’t able to maximize his pitches. This would be due to not being 100% and pitching with pain. We need to get him healthy. Speaking of Swartz and Kyte - I think we’ve had enough injuries this year where it’s too the point that they might need a performance review. I’d like Dayton to do this - I’m serious. Am I wrong here? I mean I know the "major league baseball season is 162 games. Even tough guys get strains, sore arms, muscle pulls", but even the great Lou Brown would say enough is enough. I mean is David Glass pulling a Rachel Phelps and skimping on the bills? Where is that new whirlpool he promised? No hot water in the showers? I've had it with this nickel and dime shit!
Jose Guillen now has 14 BB vs. 12 K’s in 103 PA’s. He had 23 BB vs. 106 K’s in 633 PA’s last year. Good gawd, man. That is crazy. If he keeps this up he will surpass last year’s walk total in mid June (while missing the first 15 games with an injury). I think one of the silver lining’s of Jose not being 100% is that he isn’t up at the plate pressing for home run after home run. I think he realizes he can help the team by walking and singles to the opposite field. I feel like he is consciously doing this - he is way above his career OBP and below his career SLUG, so I think this may be the case. For whatever reason it is happening - I like it.
Anyone seen Juan Cruz pitch recently? Wow, this guy is filthy. Remember when Hillman thought Farnsworth was better than this guy and it cost us two games? I do - just wanted to remind you.
This Mike Aviles sore forearm news is troubling. I don’t know what to think of it. Could it be BS to protect his reputation and help his psyche? Sure. Could it be true? I would hope so as it would help explain his poor numbers. But it also means he has been hurting the team by playing hurt (if it really is THE reason for his struggles). I think it hurts him, which doesn’t help, but that its just a part of the problem. I’m getting nervous. I don’t want this to be Angelv2.0. All account on Aviles is that he works his ass off, so I’m hoping he can get this figured out. He is a guy who could maybe use a stint in AAA to get his confidence/swagger back - though I’m not ready to use Bloomy as a full time SS. I will gladly admit I was wrong about this goofball. He is playing good ball - I was wrong. However, I still think part of his effectiveness is his versatility and light workload. I think this will suffer with regular play and we’ve all seen this happen (Desi Relaford, Esteban German). I just don’t want the Bloomy to come off the rose. Too easy I’m sorry. I’d like Mike to get 4 starts in the next 5 now that he has “rested” his forearm. Then the Brass needs to make a decision after this week. Another to thing to be scared of, Dayton, Hillman, and especially LeVebre all LOVE Tony Pena Jr. He will be back from injury somewhat soon. If Aviles keeps struggling, would any of you be surprised if they gave TPJ another shot as the starter. He got LASIK remember!!! Hope that keeps you up at night - cause I won’t be sleeping well for a while.
OK, so we’re only a game out of first with a few blown games, some key injuries, and some really bad offensive spells. I will take where we are at - especially since the Sux keep losing. Man, their offense is looking pathetic and my die hard Sux buddy is starting to get very nervous. The Twins and Tigers aren’t going anywhere for the time being. Cleveland is not going to win this division with their rotation. The Sux could turn it around, but I like the way they are trending.
We need to get 2 of 3 from Cleveland with Banny, Meche, Greinke going. St. Louis will be tough with Davies, Hoch, Meche - so that looks more like 1 of 3. But again, with their dinged up O, it could be a nice time for Hoch to straighten things out. I’m pumped for this week, should be some good ball games. Hell, lets go 4-2.
Eeeeeeeeeeett’s go Roy-Holes.
Exit Question: Is anyone with me on the Dump Swartz/Kyte campaign? I’m tired of “dead arms”. Hell, I just remembered that Banny was bitching about a tired shoulder the other day. What the what is going on here? I mean the Knights got Roy Hobbs to play with blood oozing from his rib cage, so I mean come on - we're not asking for miracles here...

Here is Brett going off. I can't believe KCTV aired this, after he was basically telling the reporter that he is an effing idiot. I like it.
Aviles- I sure hope it was an injury that has him playing this poorly, or it certainly looks like Angel v2.0. But it does seem pretty convenient to say he has been hurt... I think he needs to dull down his pre-pitch routine and just hit the ball.
Guillen- "he isn’t up at the plate pressing for home run after home run. I think he realizes he can help the team by walking and singles to the opposite field." Hmmmm, or he realizes that is all he is capable of without "a little help from his friends"..
Hoch- I wouldn't be opposed to putting him in a long reliever situation, less pressure and just let him get a better feel for the majors. Not sure if putting him back in AAA is what he really needs.
Exit Question- Don't know enough about Swartz/Kyte to comment on this one.
CABG - you take the bait quicker than Kobe in Colorado. Pavlov's Dog, man. I love it.
I like the Crisp quote and I like that Hillman showed some fire. Good for him - glad he finally got to a point to lay into the guys - I'm all for that.
George Brett was an amazing ball player. Obviously. He has also been a mouthpiece for this organization. He has told me that Jeff Granger will be the next Saberhagen. He has a little Jo Po and CABG in him and that's fine - I used to be the same way. He also is in the baseball fraternity so he will always side with a frat brother over a whining sniveling nerd like Keitzman or Harry. I hate those guys and I definitely am more knowledgeable about baseball than them. Since he called them out by name - I loved the drunken rant. But if you're trying to imply that Brett's comments should affect me and my criticism - they won't. By the way, I guarantee you that Brett threw a beer can against the wall and cursed Hillman when Thome took Farnsworth deep on Opening Day. Men's Warehouse.
Brett loves the Royals and so do I. Just because I question Hillman doesn't make me a bad fan. I have every right to do it. I pay for a product and sometimes I get a shit sandwich put on my plate (see: Opening Day and my $100 spent). So I have every right to voice my opinion - just like Brett.
I never thought a drunk spewing off at the mouth would get you so fired up.
When Brett told his story about shitting himself, did that fire you up to?
CABG - I think Keitzman and Harry are idiots as well. So I would like to remove that part from the argument. We both agree KC radio personalities are garbage.
However, I strongly disagree with your underlying message. So, to reply: to completely dismiss statistics and measurable data is dumb. It's like people who ignore real data regarding the difference between lowering or raising taxes and what that does to small businesses. Or raising/lowering taxes in a recession.
Statistics from the last 3 years do matter when you compare Cruz and Farnsy. Those numbers are not "completely meaningless" - they are only completely meaningless to you if they disprove your point - convenient. Hillman made up his mind in March that Farnsy would be his set up guy (not sure on the reason here, you help me CABG - was it Trey's gut? Farnsy's fastball? Farnsy's poor spring?) Despite empirical evidence, he made his decision. The results speak for themselves. Numbers don't lie.
I'm not a complete numbers guy. I have a little bit of old school baseball purist in me. But I'm not 100% blinded like you. And I certainly won't refute math. I might throw a few qualifiers in to add some color to the data - but I promise you there aren't enough qualifiers in the world to skew data towards using Kyle Farnsworth in the 8th in a one run game. That is a fact.
It's the age old debate of ballplayer vs. sportswriter/fan. You consider yourself a ballplayer - so we all know where you stand.
Obviously I'm no fan of Harry or Keitzman, but Brett's rant, when you actually listen to what he said, was pretty lame. More of the same "they're not in baseball, they have no right to criticize" garbage you hear from people in the fraternity all the time. It seems to me if people "inside" baseball were really that confident in their vastly superior knowledge they could just tune the rest of us know-nothings out. Instead they rant and rave and make salty baseball guy statements about vague baseball guy knowledge that can only come from spending your life in a dugout.
If criticism is valid it doesn't matter where it comes from. The man doesn't make the argument right, the argument makes the man right. If a premier mathematician told you 1+1 was 3, and a retard told you 1+1 was 2, who would you believe? The mathaematician could scream till he was blue in the face about how the retard doesn't know math, but he would still be wrong on that argument.
I'm not saying I know as much about baseball as Brett, Gardy, CABG, or anyone else. What I am saying is that people outside baseball are capable of making valid points, and people inside are capable of being incompetent idiots (see Bell, Buddy).
I'll admit, Hillman has been a little better lately. I still think he's a moron. His shrewd offseason calculations told him he'd be a better manager if he read the bible more, for crying out loud. Clearly, this is not an intelligent man. To be basing your life on the incoherent scribblings of desert nomads from 2 thousand years ago (3 thousand for the old testament) is, to me, totally unacceptable in a guy who is supposed to be a savvy leader of men.
Check out this little ditty from the book of Deuteronomy:
Deuteronomy 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
Deuteronomy 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
Deuteronomy 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
Deuteronomy 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
Deuteronomy 13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God
According to the Bible, a book Trey Hillman reads EVERY SINGLE DAY, you are duty bound to kill anyone you know, including every member of your family, who so much as talks about worshiping another god. THIS IS WHAT TREY HILLMAN BELIEVES.
Sorry gang, I'll try to keep it to baseball from here on out. I'm using that Deuteronomy quote in a bit on saturday, so its fresh in my mind. Thought it might be good for a laugh. Hope I didn't offend anyone (although, for my own perverse reasons, I'd like to hear from you if I did).
Eggs bringing Deuteronomy smack - this guy's got range.
Tough loss tonight. Mark Teahen should've taken until he got a strike there in the ninth. Wood had just walked the bases loaded - the last thing you do is help him by swinging the bat. As you could see, that got Wood in a groove and changed the game. Oh and David - let that slider hit you in the thigh, pussy.
Props to Fr. Hillman for trotting Sidney Ponson out to start the 8th inning. I understand he brought him in the 7th to try and get a double play ball with Ponson's sinker ball - but the 8th? We had Tejeda, Mahay, and Cruz all rested and ready to go. You could argue that he was saving Cruz for the save, but I would've preferred any of the other options.
Let's regroup and get a nice series win tomorrow with ProZack.
5 things:
1) I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think maybe Bloomy actually should be the very day guy at short for a while. Aviles needs a stint in the minors in the worst way. Do I think Bloomquist is really an every day caliber player? Not really, but he's been pretty damn good so far. Good enough to warrant a longer look at least. I jumped for joy when I saw that steal (on gamecast mind you).
2) As the voice of the Ponson Pals, I feel like I should clarify our official stance on Ponson vs. Hochevar. We don't care if Ponson is a starter or not, we just want him on the team. Not even for his pitching, more for his presence. His fat, drunken presence. We want to know that when that team hits the showers, Ponson's disgusting naked body is in there with them.
As for Hochevar, I don't think I like him. And its not because of his horrible start, either. That story CABG told about him saying he didn't like KC really got to me. Why would he say something like that? What an idiot. I was actually kind of pissed when we drafted him, too. I wanted Andrew "Andy" Miller, although I think he has also sucked to this point.
3) Speaking of drafts, is anyone else really regretting the Moustakas pick? The Royals heap praise on this guy, but I guarantee if Dayton Moore could go back in time and take Matt Weiters or Rick Porcello he would. How could he not? Moustakas is in A ball playing the position Alex Gordon should have locked up for 5 years at least. Weiters is major league ready and plays our biggest position of need. No brainer.
4) Obviously we all like having Crisp and Callaspo at the top of our order, but I think Callaspo should be 1 and Crisp 2. Not the standard way to do it I know, but it seems to me having the fast guy 2nd would be better for breaking up double-plays. If both of them are essentially table-setters anyway, shouldn't we look to limit the DP when one of them gets on? Callaspo can get doubled up easy, Crisp no way. Maybe kind of a defeatist approach, but I guarantee it would save us some outs.
5) Just to clarify, I don't think everyone who believes in God is stupid by any means. I know and respect many people who believe in a higher power of some kind or another. I do, however, think anyone who reads the Bible daily and interprets it literally is ignorant at best and dangerous at worst.
Our society has advanced too far for myths from the darkest corners of our past to still hold us in such blind obedience and fear. The people who wrote the Bible, the Koran, and every other sacred text knew even less about the world than we do. Much less. Every other aspect of humanity has shown steady progress over the last 2,000 years. Why are our religious beliefs still so baseless and naive?
PS Bizarre religious ideas aside, the Bible is also really poorly written. No conformity of style, substance, or even ideas. Contradictions too numerous to count, an extremely primitive grasp of language, and violence so grotesque it would make the writer of Saw blush. Not only is it not divinely inspired, its not even a good book.
Before I turn into a pillar of salt for reading this blog, let me also chime in on Aviles needing a rest. Watching opening day up in New York, when Eggs and I were talking about who we were most excited about for the season, Aviles was tops on my list. How could you not love him after last year? But boy, when you can't turn the double play at a crucial juncture and you've got zero plate discipline it's time to put Bloomy or, dare I say it, TPJ in there. The decision to hold on to TPJ looks a little better every day.
As far as the Brett rant goes, I do see the inherent value in old fashioned baseball knowledge/virtues that only players/coaches really know. There's certainly something to be said about team chemistry and hey, Fartsworth isn't too far away from becoming Farnsworth...I think that's a result of Trey sticking with him and showing confidence in him. However, the rant sounded like it was coming from a guy who's just not going to accept that everyone's got an opinion nowadays and that people in the limelight can't get away with shit like they used to. Celebrities, ball players, politicians and the like simply get called out on their poor decisions more often than ever before due to the increase in widespread information (hopefully knowledgeable info). That wasn't the case even a decade ago. You could get away with whatever you wanted but now...no way. I don't even see the point of being a celebrity nowadays unless you made so much money you could fly above the radar.
I guess I shouldn't say point of being a celebrity...the desire would probably make more sense.
that was as tough as a loss lastnight as the win was great the night before, si? watch ponson trot out in the eighth had even the truest ponson pals (and popps) scratching their heeds. I guess we are trying to find a niche for this guy since the tail end of our bullpen is still in question. I really would have liked to see Tejeda start that inning (granted he got hit a little but he came in w/ runners on and throwing from the stretch).
Whitlock wrote a good piece yesterday addressing the brett stance. Keitzman stinks baby...i'd love to hear what he has to say about getting called out.
can we get some examples from a baseball guy (cabg) about what we don't know that only baseball guys know? save injury status and "private" matters be. I think fans know when chemistry looks good (guys cheering for each other, even taking walks in not-so-obvious situations, interviews). what can we possibly not know that college baseball gives you a better understand of. i'm honestly curious.
I agree that Whitlock’s article regarding Brett’s rant was pretty spot on. As he mentions in the article the reason that Brett didn’t call out the likes of JoPo and Petro, etc. is b/c they actually show face in the clubhouse and display an intrinsic knowledge of the game/team. Either way, I’m fine w/ Brett standing up for our manager and calling out Keitzman and the like. Regardless of whether or not Brett really believes what he said (which I think is actually debatable), he did what was best for the team and the organization. He (Brett) is still very much the face of this franchise, and with the team as promising as it has been in decades imagine the repercussions if Brett had not defended Hillman as vehemently as he did. Anyhow…here’s the link if you car to read the article. Let’s not put too much stock in what Brett said though, b/c like I said I think he was very much doing what was best for the Franchise, regardless of what he really believes.
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/columnists/jason_whitlock/story/1206870.html
The win 2 nights ago was phenomenal, but last night’s loss was also pretty unfortunate. On a positive note, Meche looked much better. Had he not had poor starts/fatigue leading up to yesterday, he definitely pitches another inning. And as noted in previous comments, T-Bag’s at-bat was the difference. Let’s hope Greinke can finish off this series w/ a “W” today.
As for the rumors about Peavy, I am hearing a lot about it today on Chicago radio. I don’t know what’s worse; hearing about Jay Cutler everyday in the middle of May, or Jake Peavy going to the Sox. For starters, he is showing some reluctance to sign-off on the deal. He has a full no-trade clause and has openly stated he wants to stay in the N.L…either b/c he likes to hit, or fears the Royals potent line-up. If the trade goes through it’s a steal for the Sox. They are not giving up Gordon Beckham (their best pitching prospect and arguably one of the coolest names in decades) and it’s probably a 4 for 1 deal. Even if the trade goes through I do not think this makes the Sox the favorites in the Central. Peavy will move from one of the largest ball-parks to one of the smallest. His strikeout numbers will be pretty consistent, but his ERA in a smaller park and pitching against DH’s instead of pitchers is sure to make a difference. Hope is not lost if this happens. The Sox offense still sucks, and the guy can only pitch every 5 days.
mpk - just to clarify - Gordan Beckham is their stud SS drafted out of Georgia last year. They are giving up Clayton Richard (good LHP starter) and Aaron Poreda (#1 pitching prospect) and hopefully 2 more players. Either way the deal sucks for us.
CABG - That was a good post and you made good points.
The problem with this situation is that we all agree with what Brett said when directed towards Keitzman and Harry - because they are grade A jack asses. Again - I want to separate this debate by removing the Keitz/Harry factor. I’m interpreting his comments beyond naming the KC idiots – I think he was going after any critic out there (My interpretation could be wrong, but it’s the entire preface of my comment here). Brett does not have the right to tell every single critic to "fuck off". Some critics are very, very smart and very, very knowledgeable. What if Orel Hershiser criticizes Hillman on ESPN. Can Brett grab a beer and a microphone and say "Hey Orel - Fuck you!". Would that be accepted because he reached his boiling point?
Here is another thing to think about. Look at the way people treated Grady Little back when the Red Sox lost in the postseason. He was mocked and ripped on by everyone and their mother. Where was George Brett then to defend him? Where was Wade Boggs and other former Red Sox players telling America to go “fuck off” when they criticized Little??? Oh, didn’t happen? Maybe it’s because there were merits in the criticism. Oh I see.
I wonder what would happen if Bill Clinton or H.W. (Bush Sr.) had a few pops at a charity golf outing and then was asked what they thought about the media questioning Obama or Bush. What if Clinton looked in the camera with a creepy Jack Nicholson face (seriosly George, you're scaring the kids...and me) and said, “Hey Limbaugh – Go Fuck yourself you fat ass. You’ve never held a political position so you don’t know shit. Shut your mouth and don’t you dare question someone from my field.” Hmm… By the way that is what Brett was implying with his eloquent tirade. Would Clinton be revered like Brett is right now? I doubt it. Rush Limbaugh (love him or hate him) is a very, very smart man. He knows quite a bit about this country and the government. I think this makes him a credible critic (biased yes, but credible for sure). There are PLENTY of credible critics and they have every RIGHT to criticize. That is what our country was founded on (let’s hope that lasts by the way!). Just like Brett has a right to criticize the criticizer, but he can’t tell them he is right and they are wrong just because Brett was a lifetime .305 hitter and they weren’t.
Which goes back to my original point. If I had a radio show after Opening Day and I blasted Hillman (I used this nerdy blog instead) regarding the Farnsworth decision, how could George Brett tell me to “Fuck off”? If I remember correctly, before the season even started I gave empirical evidence why Cruz should be the set up guy and NOT Farnsworth. Do you know why I knew that? To quote CABG, “It mostly has to do with looking ahead (not in days...but in innings, hitters, tendencies, etc.)”. I looked ahead and I looked BACK. I look at tendencies (like Farnsworth has a tendency to suck at pitching in pressure situations), numbers (clear as day), and every other parameter I could get my hands on. You see, SOME fans do “get it” (Yes, MANY don’t). Sure, there are behind the scenes things that go into decisions that aren’t divulged to the public – I get that. But the Cruz vs. Farnsworth debate is a no brainer, it really is. So if Brett thinks he can tell me to “fuck off” because he doesn’t like all of my FACTS that Cruz is clearly the better option there, then I would say to him, “Fuck you too!” (in the Al Pacino Scent of a Woman voice from the closing arguments on behalf of Charlie in lieu of his parents, who were home in Oregon)
D.P. - you're right, sorry for the confusion. And the latest I'm hearing is that Peavy's agent said he isn't sure his client is ready to make the move...which is good. Let's hope for the best, and this deal falls through.
-mitch
By the way...A.J. Hinch??!! That's like opening up the paper and reading Mendy Lopez is the Governor of Minnesota.
frank and ryan were really giving it to aviles about his footwork....they don't likey.
that, more than anything else you have said (or where you went to college) gives your more credentials, captain awesome
Hey guys,
I'm moving in with another KC expatriot in 2 weeks and I'm hoping to convince him to go in on some sort of Royals baseball package. I refuse to continue missing relevant Royals baseball. Having season tickets under Buddy Bell and missing this is just too fucking sad. I move to New York and now the Royals are good?!? Unbelievable.
Anyway, we'll likely have Time Warner Cable. What are my options here? What kind of money will I have to spend? Why am I so scared of pacific Islanders? The answers to any of these questions would be extremely helpful.
PS I know you guys have talked about this before. I wasn't listening. Sorry, but Ilived with a St. Louis guy then. Royals baseball package was not an option.
Well, we just might have the Twins to thank for Peavy NOT going to the Sox. I would like to think that Peavy was sitting in the S.D. clubhouse watching baseballs fly out of that stupid ballpark on the South Side, and say to himself "Why would I want to pitch there?".
JoPo had an interesting article about Greinke's start yesterday. It’s no great revelation that teams are going to HAVE to take a new approach w/ Greinke, but I think JoPo missed some key points.
From what I could tell/remember watching the gamecast on my phone Greinke was not very sharp. He was not throwing enough 1st pitch strikes (he went 3-0 on at least 1 hitter, and had numerous 2-0 counts); he admittedly struggled w/ his control and could not spot pitches; was not very resourceful, throwing 103 pitches in 6 innings; he did not record a true 1-2-3 inning, and in fact the 6th (his last inning) was the only inning he faced the minimum (thanks to a double-play ball). It seemed like the Indians had runners in scoring position in nearly every inning except the 6th. Ultimately, I think we can take a lot of positive from this though. Greinke was NOT @ his best and the Indians were playing playoff style baseball…sacrificing runners to 2nd w/ Grady, etc. I think that we saw Zack get truly tested for the first time this year and he still only allowed 2 runs and was able to muster his best stuff when he needed it most. I think that in the past, Greinke would have struggled through 5 innings and given up 4+ runs, so this is pretty encouraging. Just a bummer our bullpen crapped down their leg and cost the Royals/Greinke a “W”; they have not looked too good lately.
Can we get 2 of 3 from the Cards w/ our 3-4-5 starters? I hope so. More importantly, the Detroit series after this weekend is shaping-up to be huge.
-Mitch
Nah man, too poor for Manhattan. I'm a Brooklyn guy. Greenpoint specifically.
Thank god for Bannister. Getting swept by those foul cardinals would've been more than I could bear.
I actually got to watch that last game. Quite a treat.
Thank you Trey....about time. So much for the close game, he needed to get it out!
i'm really worried about this team, we have been playing some of the worst ball in the majors for the last 3 weeks. it's hard to watch. if we fall behind even by a run it's like we have no chance, because we can't hit. the bullpen has been playing us out of games pretty much every day. there isn't much going right for us. that said, we're only 1 game under .500 and in 2nd place in the central, but if we keep this up, that won't last.
never thought i'd say this, but right now farnsy is the only guy in the pen that i have any confidence in.
meche looks like shit
guillen-jacobs - blah
at least we have tug hulett
eggies.
the mbl.tv package is where its at (w/ bigg hatt, mind you)...the problem being that you have to watch in on your computer (although a simple, mrrt, connection can enable your tv to serve as your monitor)...
thats about your only option for watching the games. its only fifteen dollars a month. check. it. ouuuut.
Eggs - I bought MLB Extra Innings and I think it's an amazing product. The mlb.tv sounds pretty legit too, I just like being able to roam my house and have it on multiple tv's - I also like the ability to DVR games when I'm working late and/or drunk. I guess it's whatever you prefer, either way - you need to make a move.
We need a win tonight - and I'm going to bet that we say that every game #23 is pitching for the rest of the season.
New post coming tonight - too hammered at the Lake to type.
